NGO Management Courses in the Czech Republic

  1. In Prague, at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Charles University, in co-operation with the Foundation for the Development of Civil Society and Association Agnes is running for the second or third year the so called postgraduate specialization study program “Managers for the Third Millennium.”  It lasts for 2 semesters (from February to June, a Summer School in August, and from September to December)

                          Lecturers are there e.g. Dr. Pink, Dr. Ježek, Dr. Frič, Dr. Fryštenská, Mr. Kačaba, Dr. Deverová, Prof. Šiklová end other people from NGOs.

                          Main topics are:

The lectures are given in two day sessions each month (7 hours per day) in Feb. to June, then there are visits to chosen NGOs followed by tests, elaboration of a short thesis and its presentation to an examination commission. The Charles University issues certificates.

 

 

  1. The Faculty of Film and Television of the Academy of Musical Arts in Prague runs in the 5th year of the Magister level study the study program “Management of NGOs” – it lasts for 12 hours of lectures, followed by a test and interview and may be classified by two credits out of 60 needed to graduate.

 

  1. A new course is being prepared by Prof. Rektorik at the Faculty of Public Administration of the Masaryk University in Brno. It is a specialisation in the framework of a bachelor study programe “Economics and Management of NGOs”

 

                          Besides prof. Rektorik and Mgr. Kozakova there are mostly external lecturers, like Prof. Purtchert from Frieburg, Germany,  Prof. Telec, Dr. Marek, Dr. Deverová, Dr. Volf

The study will last for 6 semesters (three years) and shall be a regular facultative part of the Bachelor Degree study at the university.

 

  1. At several other universities in the Czech Republic it is possible to choose an auxiliary study program “Public Economy and NGOs”. It is provided at the Pedagogical University in Pardubice, Mining College in Ostrava, University if Usti nad Labem, University of Economics in Prague

 

Prof. Telec teaches his course on the Law of Associations and Foundations at the Faculty of Law of the Masaryk University in Brno.
