The clinic began in April 2000 with a 30-hour theory course, and will continue in September 2000 with a live-client clinic under a lawyer’s supervision (30 hours clinic). The course is open for 8-10 fourth- and fifth-year law students (8th and 9th semester). |

During the past two years, ICNL staff members have
conducted a one-week introductory NGO law course covering principal elements
of laws affecting the sector and primarily focusing on international
standards and comparative models and using the Guidelines for Law Affecting
Civic Organizations as a text. More than 80 persons have attended each class.
ICNL has been invited to lead the class again in fall 2000 and hopes to bring
a Lithuanian instructor into the teaching team. |

ICNL (Vice-President Doug Rutzen) has been invited every
year to present an NGO law lecture with Prof. Davitkovski. Over 100 students
attend this lecture. Prof.Daviktovski has expressed interest in creating a
course on NGO law. He would also like to develop a case book on NGO legal
issues which would be used by the political science, journalism and law
faculties, all of which are housed in the law school. He has expressed some
interest in NGO law clinical programs. |
